The purpose of Traduct’s quality management system is to guarantee the linguistic and terminological accuracy of our translations and successful communication in order to meet the requirements and expectations of the customer’s communication process.
To ensure the efficiency of quality management, our quality management system is subject to the requirements of the international ISO standard and certified by an independent audit firm.
The quality management system is based on the ISO 17100 Translation services standard published in 2015. The requirements for translation services define the specifications for the translation process’s key areas with a direct impact on the quality of the translation services.
Above all, the standard requires from the provider of the translation service a clear service process and its management, and personnel and resources that meet the set qualification requirements.
The qualification requirement for personnel means that the translators and revisers must always meet one of the three following conditions:
The second basic pillar of our quality management system is a systematic revision process: Traduct’s translations are always revised by two professionals. This ensures that the translation’s message remains the same as the original’s – no more and no less.
The certification of the quality management system means that the system is independently audited and approved by an external party. For Traduct, this independent audit organisation has been Inspecta Sertifiointi Oy since our first quality management system certification 15 years ago.
The quality certificate is valid for three years at a time. The conformity of the system is ensured in accordance with an annually prepared monitoring plan and the certification remains in force if conformity with the requirements can be met.
This time, the re-audit took place on Wednesday 30 August and the auditor, Elina Selin, carefully audited Traduct’s quality management processes and functions, the production process, and the process following the delivery of the translation. We would like to thank Elina for her invaluable feedback and suggestions for improving our quality management system and operations.
Elina Selin, what significance does a certified quality management system have for specialist SMEs and what can a customer expect from a quality-certified company?
“The certification of a sector-specific quality management system can be compared to having a driver’s license when driving. You can, of course, drive without a license, but it may not be a good idea to get into a car with an unlicensed driver. Certification of the quality management system results in credibility and trust. You can confidently buy from a certified service provider. The conformity of the operations is verified regularly by an independent party based on the sector’s quality requirements. The basics have to be in order and there has to be a visible commitment to developing the operations. The service provider must identify and react to the customer’s needs and concerns. The customer can be confident that they will receive service that meets their needs – as and when agreed. And if everything doesn’t go to plan, issues can be resolved together without undue delay.”
